the People Garden is D.C.'s only 100% organic Grocer, Juice Bar & Deli, featuring locally grown produce and products. My friend Ward used to work there.
I've eaten at Midi (at Dupont) twice now and almost wish that I worked in the area, so that I'd eat there all the time. It's french food, (from the Midi region they told me, i've never heard of it) quick and tasty. There are plenty of cold pasta and grain dishes that you can mix and match by the pound as well as sandwiches and hot food. You can't get much classier fast food. See the menu

If Midi doesn't suit your style, there is good Mexican fast food called Burro just down the street and plenty of other choices.
It doesn't look like it's gonna have any non-meat dishes, but i definitely want to check out, what i think may be a DC icon: Ben's Chili, and 13th and U NW.
Find out what bands are playing where in DC's city paper. For movies, try them or the washington post.
