I really fell in love with Brindisi. To most tourists, it's an 'armpit' (Holly), or just an obstacle between the last train station and the harbor to get to Greece. Initially it feels like there isn't much there, but learning the streets and finding little bars and restaurants in stone alleys was so wonderful once I started finding them. Brindisi is so small in its attitude, I remember seeing advertisements for restaurants that gave no contact info, address or anything! They don't even really try to keep the tourists, and most tourists couldn't be presuaded to stay, but I loved it. See a local virtual tour site. It has a lot of content, but is a bit heavy on ugly buttons, cookies, and ads.

I checked my e-mail at Jox music and internet cafe, but there are others on the Corso Garibaldi and Corso Roma on your way to the harbor from the train station.

(I'm not sure which of these numbers is right.)

Big Ben had some sandwiches and salads that were so good that my mouth is watering right now and i feel like going to check on plane tickets to Italy tonight! Go several times and try a couple. I can't recommend one, so many were so good. This was my favorite place in Brindisi, seriously. They were so nice too.

Blue Moon had good beer and sandwiches and good music. Upstairs they had an outdoor patio open summers only.

Note to self: There was a hole in the wall bar towards the harbor on the right, but I can't remember what it was called nor where it was. Get the info next time I'm there.

University Pizza is very prominent on the main street into the harbor. It's pricey and OK. There's much better in town.

If you like seafood or pasta, hit some small place in an alley. They are everywhere. Don't order from the menu, they are usually out of half the stuff anyway. At small seafood or pasta places, I suggest getting whatever they recommend. It'll be fresh and quick. Poking around the menu may be a bit dissapointing and will take a while to get to you.

For a more complete list, but with no commentary, and the little that is written is in Italian, check out farmt.it's list of night spots in Brindisi. There are many more than are on this list, but they are difficult to find, even when you are there.
