Moab, Utah
If you live in Denver and need a ride to Moab, I will be driving my bus there on weekends starting at the end of February. |
Bandidos Mexican restaurant. After 3 years of Mexican food in Germany, I couldn't wait to get some real Mexican food. I was dissapointed by several places in Colorado. Bandidos is exactly what I was looking for. The food is great and the staff was nice. There were lots of options for vegetarians, and the menu even indicated that certain items could be made vegan. They don't use canned products and make their salsa and most everything else fresh daily. My favorite place for dinner in Moab.

Breakfast at Tiffany's. This is an excellent breakfast joint. Every corner and detail is decorated with antiques. Each table is different with it's own chairs and dishes. All are unique to a table and are real antiques. The staff is cute and friendly and the food is tasty. Definitely worth a visit. My favorite place for breakfast in Moab. They have outdoor seating, but no one uses it in the summer, because it has little shade. The food is a mix between American and European breakfast food. I have not yet eaten lunch there, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it based on the breakfasts.

Eddie McStiff's. It's a sports bar/restaurant and brewery. The beer is pretty good as is the food. It's typical sports bar fare. They have a veggie burger that's pretty tasty. I go there for beer, but would try eating elsewhere, since it's really not that different from any other decent sports bar in any other city.

The EklectiCafe was on my list for the last day, and I forgot to eat there. My friends James and Julie ate there and loved it. I will be checking it out in less than a month, so stay tuned. Here are some sample dishes from their ad:
Curried Lentil & Quinoa with Chili-Lime Shrimp Skewers
Herbed Mediterranean Rice with Feta and Olives
Summer Garden Pasta with Dill
Indonesian Rice with Tofu or Chicken
and many more.
Thursdays and Fridays the have Asian dishes. They also have sampler dishes of salad, soup and locally grown organic mixed greens.

Mondo Cafe. The food was good, but it had no atmosphere and did't have a friendly feel. The owner/manager or whoever it was just seemed out for money. It has one computer for internet use. You can also surf without eating, but it costs a little more. I don't think that I'll be back there. It's right next to Eddie McStiff's.

Pasta Jay's. Food was ok/good and the prices where what you'd expect for a very centrally located restaurant. I ended up eating there because of the location and the outdoor seating. I'll probably eat here again, but not every visit. It's here that I learned that, because of Utah's conservative laws, you can't order wine without something to eat. Beer can be ordered without food. (but not in supermarkets, I think)

The Peach Tree Juice Cafe. I had a wrap that was really good and pretty creative. The juice smoothie was also tasty and filling. They have several tables outside as well. Just down the street from Pasta Jay's.

Zax Wood Fired Pizza.
A big family pizza joint that follows the successful formula of so many others just like it, that you'd swear it was a chain. Whether that's good or bad has more to do with you than Zax. The pizza was good, but how hard is that to accomplish?
